an experience to remember

I was lucky to attend the Ruhr Master School Summer School programme ‘Glocal Sustainability-Global view for local progress: Development of post mining infrastructure” ’ this summer for a period of two weeks. I can honestly say that I have learned so much in such a short period of time as we had the privilege of being taught by professors from Westphalia University in Gelsenkirchen and from the Ruhr University Bochum. The main objective of the course and the programme was to create and design an academic poster which included our ideas on the redesign of the closed pit ‘Zeche Ewald’ in Gelsenkirchen. Finding a solution was challenging for me as I had never created an academic poster before Summer School. Having worked with a talented international team, now I can confidently say that I can create posters about any subject.

The overall experience I gained at Summer School was inspiring as the professors shared their personal experiences with us and we were able to discuss topics on mining and intercultural relationships. We were guided by a group of talented participants that are studying at the University of RMS as well as by academics including Professor Dr. Timm Braasch It was not only the course and the content-related topics that I enjoyed, but I also enjoyed the interaction between international students from all walks of life . Summer School gave me the opportunity to meet a wonderful group of people and to make friends from different countries (Ukraine, Germany, Jordan, Kazakhstan). Furthermore, I got to explore the beauty of Gelsenkirchen, Duesseldorf, and Cologne, which are cities in the Ruhr Area, through trips led by a German RMS student buddy and I also got to experience what it was like to study at a Germany university.

As RMS was a life-changing experience, I would recommend it to any entrepreneur looking for challenges, both to collaborate and to learn from like-minded delegates and organizers across the world. Besides, my experience at Summer School also motivated and inspired me to achieve my life goals and to build a wide network. The cultural interaction that took place for the two weeks was unique, special and moving to me as it taught me a deeper sense of global unity and appreciation. Thus, we were able to connect and learn more about our fellow international and local participants and mentors, about their personal experiences and about their advice to help build ourselves and our careers.

Last but not least, I am grateful for my team ,ECO LEGO’ with whom I worked with and we managed to get the first place in the competition for the best poster with the help of our ambitious and aspiring work ethic.

I have already suggested RMS Summer School’s to my university in Palestine, as I believe that many other students would enjoy the experience and truly benefit from it. All in all, RMS in Germany was amazing. #RuhrMasterSchool #germany19 #firstPlace #team #winner #Gewinner #ECOLEGO
